That Old Black Magic

Happy Thursday!! Can you believe it's the last day of April already?? Those end of the school year activities are already starting for us - school carnivals, flower sales, registration for next year, etc. - I have a feeling May is gonna be a pretty crazy month! Anywho - I was inspired to do some stamping this morning by today's Ways to Use It challenge over on SCS - you can view the challenge here. Today's challenge is Ways to Use Basic Black. Well - I've been itching to ink up my Stampotique Daniel Torrente images and this is the perfect challenge to use them for! I chose to use "Three in a Round" - one of my FAVE Stampotique images - I stamped it twice - once on white and once on black (which I heat embossed with white embossing powder). I cut them both out with my circle Nesties - but on the black one - I cut out the center of it as well to create a window. I then adhered the black one over my Copic colored image using pop dots to give it lot of dimension. I had also been itching to try out some of the Core'dinations Black Magic cardstock that I've recently gotten (Thanks, Kristi!!! ;)) - again - perfect of for this challenge. I chose a piece of the black/purple Black Magic cardstock and embossed it with my Cuttlebug Spiderwebs folder. When I ran it thru initially - it did come out with a little bit of the purple showing thru - but I wanted even more to show thru - so I went over it with my sanding sponge and wow - that color really just began to pop out of that black cardstock - what an AWESOME effect!!! I am loving this cardstock - it's gonna be fun for Halloween! I finished off my card with a fitting sentiment from the MFT "Monsters Ink" set and a black brad to accent.

If you are local and love the Stampotique images - be sure to swing in Papertrix in Nashville to check them out - Cindy carries the Daniel Torrente images and I heard a rumor that she may be carrying the new Stamping Bella Kettos as well - hee hee...I need to get down there to check out all the fun new stuff she's got in!! Speaking of Papertrix - my next Beginner Copic class is scheduled for Sunday, May 17th - I am not sure if it's full yet - but if you are gonna be in the area and are interested in the class - call Cindy ASAP at the number listed on my sidebar - I'm looking forward to getting back to teaching - we always have a blast in the classes!! Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Christmas in Halloweentown

Just having some more fun with stamps that I've gotten at Papertrix in Nashville - Cindy and Wayne carry the FABULOUS Daniel Torrente Stampotique images - if you are looking for some very unique and different images - these are for you - I just adore these stamps! They remind me of characters in Tim Burton's "A Nightmare Before Christmas" - hence the title of my post - Christmas in Halloweentown. My dear friend Vicki inspired me to get my Stampotiques out this morning - she made a stunning card with one of the new Christmas images on her blog - and of course - now that I've seen her card - I'll have to have that one too - LOL!! You enabler you, Vicki!! Hee hee...for my card - I used 3 different images - from left to right - "Moth Fab", "Joy" and "Gooseneck". I colored them with my Copics in Christmas colors to make them a group of Christmas misfits - I added some stickles to the gals' dresses - hmmm...maybe their off to a Goth Christmas Ball - LOL!! I used snowflakes from the Hanna Stamps "Ski Bunny" set to stamp around my images - I stamped them in silver ink - but that's kinda hard to see. The sentiment is a Hero Arts sentiment that I got in a Christmas set from last year - it's one of my most favorite Holiday sentiments I have. The little gemstone is by Hero Arts as well. Thanks so much for stopping by - hope you all had a wonderful weekend!! GO COLTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ghouls Rule

Have I mentioned how much I love these Stampotique stamps by Daniel Torrente?? Hee hee...I think little miss "Gooseneck" here is my favorite!! This is my card I did for today's sketch challenge over on SCS - you can see the sketch here. This was a fun sketch - I dug thru my scrap from my Die Cuts with a View Glitter Halloween stack for the blocks of patterned paper on this card. The orange panel was embossed with the Spiderwebs Cuttlebug embossing folder. I colored the image in with Copic markers. The sentiment is from one of the new Studio G Halloween clear $1 stamp sets and was cut out with oval nestibilities. The ribbon is from Hobby Lobby and the bats are from the Hanna Stamps Halloween mini-set - just stamped and cut out. Thanks so much for stopping by - my hubby and I are going to be heading out of town for a nice long relaxing weekend tomorrow - so this will be my last post this week - be sure to stop in next week for some more fun creations!! Have a wonderful rest of your week and weekend!!

Peace, Love, Joy?

Hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend! We have had a great weekend here - my 6 year old had his first soccer game on Saturday and then we nervously watched the Colts win today - yikes - that was a close one, huh?? Whew - I can't handle many more games like that - LOL!! I've got an interesting card to share with you today - I was playing with some stamps that I picked up last time I was at Papertrix in Nashville, IN - and I picked up this little guy to ink up - he's pretty cool and very different and I LOVE him!! He looks kinda sad, doesn't he? Like maybe he needs a big Christmas hug and some peace and joy around the world this holiday season! ;) This is a stamp called "Joy" and is from the new holiday line of Daniel Torrente images by Stampotique. I love his stamps - I have quite a few of them and need to use them more often - they remind me of a Tim Burton animated movie - like "Nighmare Before Christmas" - one of my all time faves. I first saw this line of stamps on Vicki Garrett's blog and just fell in love with them - she does a WONDERFUL job with them!! Shortly after I saw them on Vicki's site - I was in Papertrix and discovered that Cindy had started carrying them down there and was so excited - I will probably send this card down to her for the store - she just got all the new holiday stamps in. Anywho - I colored him in with Copics and cut him out using the long rectangle Nestibilities. I embossed the deep red circle with the new Ornaments Cuttlebug embossing folder. Peace, love, and joy are sentiments from the new Hero Arts Christmas Owls set - which you can also find at Papertrix. Thanks so much for stopping by!!
