Let's Play "Dress-Up"!

Happy Friday! It's my turn to host the Hanna Stamps Friday challenge over at SplitCoast Stampers and I have chosen to do a Paper Piecing challenge. We are "dressing-up" Hanna in beautiful patterned paper! The challenge is that you must do some paper piecing on your Hanna or Riley image and that you must also use some "bling" on your image as well. This is the card I did for the challenge - I dressed Hanna up in paper from the Basic Grey Urban Couture line. I added some bling using burgundy Stickles - I used Stickles on her purse and a drop on both of her ears for some earrings. I also hand-drew her necklace and added a drop of Stickles to her pendant for some extra bling as well! The sentiment is from the retired SU! Celebrate in Style set and the purse is from a Studio G Clear $1 stamp set from Michael's - it has been paper-pieced and "blinged" as well. The flowers were cut using my Cricut machine and I did some machine sewing on this card as well. Hope you will stop by SplitCoast and play with us today - here is a link to the challenge...http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=351696 - hope you all have a wonderful Friday!!

A Different Kind of Stamping For Me...

Happy Sunday!! It's Race Day here in Indianapolis - and what a perfect day for racing it is! I am trying to get some samples done for Papertrix this morning - I had quite the challenge for me with this Inkadinkado set...check it out...I thought it the stamps in this set were SO pretty - but these solid images were definitely a challenge for me as I am used to stamping images and then coloring them in - but I really like how the cards turned out...here's the stamp set I was working with...

Here is the first card I made with them - I used a masking techinque to do the two tone Owl image. I used a brown Memories Ink Pad and an Old Olive Stampin' Up Classic Ink Pad to stamp him. The circles/scalloped circles are Nestibilities as are the ovals that the sentiment is stamped on. The patterend paper at the top is from an old Die Cuts with a View Fall stack from JoAnn's and the bottom brown cardstock was embossed with the Paisley Cuttlebug Embossing Folder - I did lots of decorative stitching around the edges and middle seam too. The green felt flower is by American Crafts and the brown flower is a Prima - I used a ribbon brad from Hobby Lobby for the center of the flower. The sentiment is from a Hero Arts Sparkle-n-Clear mini-stamp set - here it is...

And here is the second card - I did the masking technique for the main bird image on this one as well - I used Stampin' Up classic ink pads in Old Olive and Cranberry Crisp. The circles are Nestibilities and I did some machine stitching around the circle. The bird border is also done with one of the stamps from the set and the sentiment is from a Studio G clear $1 stamp set. Here is the second card...

So how did I do? I was a smidgen hesitant about posting these as they really are out of my comfort zone - but they were definitely fun to do - I will definitely not be shying away from those solid stamps in the future!

Lily & Milo are in the house!!

Just look at Lily & Milo - aren't they TOO precious!!?? This is one of the Lily & Milo clear stamps by Stampavie - it's called "First Love" - I was so excited when I heard that 7 kids College Fund was shipping them here in the U.S. - I had to get my hands on a couple of them! I swear I am going to go broke if these stamp companies don't stop making such adorable stamps - LOL!! Lily & Milo were colored with Copic Markers - I was hesitant at first to use them on this image - but am really pleased with the results! The background was done with 2 different Cuttlebug embossing folders - Swiss Dots and Hearts - I machine sewed at the seam in between the two. All the circles and scalloped circles are Nestibilities and the sentiment is a combination of stamps from a Studio G clear $1 stamp set and the new Stampendous "Freedom Cupcakes" set. Thanks so much for stopping by - have a great Saturday!

A Chipboard Challenge...

This is a card I made for this week's challenge over on the Hanna Stamps forum at Splitcoast Stampers - the challenge for this week is to use chipboard on your card. I love chipboard - I use it a lot in my scrapping - but I can't remember the last time I used it on a card - what a fun challenge!! I have quite the stash of chipboard - so I was happy to go digging thru it to see what I could find! The letters on the card are from a pre-cut set of chipboard letters by We R Memory Keepers - I inked the edges of them a bit. The photo corner is also a pre-cut chipboard piece - from a Basic Grey set - I painted it with white acrylic paint and inked the edges of it with a Chestnut Roan Cat's Eye Fluid Chalk Ink Pad. Once it was all dry - I stamped the word "Celebrate" on to the photo corner. The main Hanna image on the card is from the recently released "Patriotic Hanna" mini-set - isn't she a beauty? I love her - she reminds me of the Statue of Liberty or Betsy Ross. The background paper on the card is from the new Die Cuts with a View Summer Stack available at JoAnn's - wow - what beautiful paper in this new stack! I pieced the background of this card together with 2 different patterned papers from the stack and then machine stitched at the seams. What a fun challenge!! Come on over and play with us - dig into that stash of chipboard or make your own from those backs on paper pads or old cereal boxes - here's the link....http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=350078 - thanks so much for stopping by!

Riley & Sophie - Happily Ever After...

Aren't Riley and Sophie just precious? I had so much fun making this card - lots of stamping on it with my Hanna Stamps! I started with the background - I used my Scor-Pal to section off the area of my card where I wanted my sentiment go. Then I used the champagne glasses and the single rose stem from the Hanna Stamps "Sweet Celebrations" set to make the background - I just randomly stamped them on my background and then colored them in with my Copic Markers. I stamped my sentiment (from a Studio G clear $1 set) in the area in between my score lines. I did the Riley and Sophie image next - I stamped it on the circle and the colored them in with my Copics. I did some machine stitching around the circle as well.

This is the second card that I have made recently where I have used all those great little accessory stamps from the Hanna Stamps clear sets to make a background paper - all those little "extras" that come in the Hanna sets are one of my favorite things about them! If you don't have any Hanna sets - you must go check them out - http://www.hannastamps.com/ - they are absolutely the most fabulous stamps!

Stamps - Hanna Stamps - Wedding Moose, Sweet Celebrations set; Sentiment - Studio G Clear $1 Set
Accessories - Copic markers, Cricut machine for circles, sewing machine, Stickles glitter glue, Hero Arts Adhesive Pearls

One Strawberries & Creme Frappuccino, 2 straws please...

My 3 year old just recently finished his first year of preschool - which means no more grocery trips on my own. I do our grocery shopping here at my local Meijer store and ours has a Starbucks in it and I normally treat myself to a drink while doing my shopping - well - I went to get my standard Tall Strawberries-n-Creme Frappuccino when I looked down and saw 2 beautiful blue eyes staring back at me - uh - wait - that'll be a Grande Strawberries-n-Creme Frappuccino - 2 straws please....oh well...he's cute - I'll share with him anytime...;)

I have recently started making samples for a local stamp store here in Indiana - it's a fabulous little store located in Nashville, Indiana - it's called Papertrix and you should definitely check it out if you are ever in the area. Well - last time I was in the store - the owner - the very sweet Cindy Hawrys - sent me home with a few stamp sets and asked me to make some designs for her store with them. One of the sets was this very cute Penny Black clear stamp set called "Fresh New Day" - I LOVE Penny Black and what a great deal for all those adorable Penny Black images! The set does not come with any sentiments - so I pulled out my trusty collection of $1 clear stamps from Michael's - yes - those fabulous little Studio G ones and went to work...here are the recipes for the cards in the pic above - click on the picture to see a larger image...
